Heart and Cholesterol

Feeling worn out?
Get to the heart of the matter

As we grow older, the aging process affects us in some ways or other. These gradual changes will take their toll on our bodies and internal organs, resulting in a decline in the way they function.
An important organs in the human body, the heart is certainly not spared from this natural declining process. Pumping blood throughout the body, the heart has plenty to do. It beats approximately 72 times per minute and keeps us going, the blood pumped by the heart transports oxygen and essential nutrients to the other vital organs and tissues in the body to help them function efficiently.

unfortunately, factors such as changes in eating habits, increasing stress level and a propensity to a more sedentary lifestyle these days are contributing to poorer heart health.
As a result, the last decade has seen a rise in chronic diseases and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of them.

What can you do for a healthy heart?
Due to the fact that CVD doesn't differentiate and able to affect both old and young, prevention measures are crucial. These include scheduling regular blood cholesterol checks and doing healthier eating and lifestyle habits, whereas:

  • gaining more consumption of Omega 3 fatty acids from fish
  • choosing low fat or fat free dairy products
  • eating more fruits, vegetables, and wheat or whole grains
  • do some exercises for losing weights
  • decreasing consumption of processed food and fast food
Why Omega 3?
Omega 3 is one of the essential Fatty Acids (EFAs), EFAs are also known as the good fats because they are necessary fats that human cannot synthesise and must be obtained through the diet. EFAs are needed primarily for the production of prostaglandins, which regulate bodily functions such as blood pressure, blood clotting and heart rate.
Prostaglandins also enhance immunity by regulating inflammation and encouraging the body to fight infection. Omega 3 is believed to help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and heart health by:
  1. lowering blood triglycerides (fat) levels
  2. raising levels of HDL
  3. lowering levels of LDL
Green Tea

as a supplumental to omega 3, green tea and coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) also help support good heart heart health. Green tea contains an antioxidant, known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which prevents the oxidant of LDL cholesterol in the arteries.

CoQ10, meanwhile is a fat-soluble substance that reacts with the food we eat and turns them into sets of energy or adenosine triphospate (ATP), which is the basic energy resource for our bodies. Without CoQ10 and the production of ATP, there would be no cellular energy to strengthen our bodies and internal organs. This will affect the way our bodies function, specifically the heart. Without sufficient energy (ATP) the heart muscles are unable to pump effectively.
Therefore, if you are feeling the worse for wear , it's perhaps your heart trying to tell you something. Assist it stay in tip-top condition. Habituate healthier eating and lifestyle habits and supplement your diet with heart healthy nutrients today.
