Soy Protein has been used in may forms due to its many health benefits. The FDA (United States Food & Drig Administration) even recommended that we consume 25 grams of soy protein daily in saturated fat and cholesterol, reduces the risk of coronary heart disease.
This is because soy beans contain a unique compound known as isoflavones - a type of antioxidants that, among others, combat cell damage. Soy protein is shown to help in reducing cholesterol level and 25 grams* per day is the reccomended amount that would produce the cholesterol-lowering effect.
If yoy are not comsuming enough protein, it is time to supplement your intake with plain Protein or soy Protein product. One serving per day gives you a balanced amount of essential and non-essential amino acids and the nutritional benefits of calcium.
Note:
In 1995, The New England Journal of Medicine (Vol. 333, No. 5) published a meta-analysis which concluded that soy protein is correlated with significant decreases in serum cholesterol, LDL(bad cholesterol) and triglycerides. Soy isoflavones adsorbed onto the soy protein were suggested as agent reducing serum cholesterol levels.
The FDA then granted the following health claim for soy:
"25 grams of soy protein a day, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may reduce cholesterol and the risk of heart disease."
